Martin Grelle was born near the small Central Town of Clifton, where he still lives today. Many of his artist friends also live in this area and get together often to visit and critque each other's work. He often takes part in an annual Cowboy Artists of America trail ride and immerses himself in the cultures of the American West to give him extensive knowledge of the cowboy's way of life. Grelle teaches annual workshops in a facility known as the Bosque Conservatory in Clifton.
