Dalhart Windberg cont'd:

Dalhart’s mother encouraged his interest in art and he became a student of Texas artist Simon Michael, who encouraged him to “paint whatever strikes your fancy”.  Windberg served a tour of duty with the Army in Europe and has traveled throughout the world.  By the 1960’s he was attracting national attention with his paintings depicting life in Mexico, Spain & Greece; but it is his American landscapes that have earned him the position he holds in the hearts of so many collectors.

Windberg mastered a very detailed style utilizing light, colors, values & shading that reflect the influence of the early Dutch and Flemish masters.  From the awesome beauty of the Rocky Mountains to the peaceful Texas Hill Country, Dalhart Windberg’s work touches something in the human spirit few artists can even come close to.

By 1967 Windberg had quit teaching to paint full time and by 1972 he was the sole artist of the American Masters Foundation.  Seven years later he was named Texas State Artist.  Today he has over 240 works to his credit and is still working. The Windberg Gallery is located on the historic town square in Georgetown, Texas, just north of Austin.
